Open Source Software

Open source software has got to be the best thing since sliced bread.  I use it whenever I can, in preference to secret source software.  Open source is reliable, free, verifiable, fixable, and can't be taken away.  In addition to using it, I also contribute to it, by reporting bugs, and selectively adding the functionality I want.  Below is a partial list of open source software I use and endorse.
You'll find many more open source projects, of all sizes and stages of development, at Sourceforge.
An open source community, directory of production quality open source software,  can be found at OSdir.com
A selection of the best, optionally in CD form, is at theOpenCD.org
